Car Care Tips

Read this article on the net, just wanna share it with u guys

I used to drive a 5 years old Waja and my friends were always surprised to hear that it was THAT old. They always thought it was NEW. So, here are some tips I would like to share on how to make your car looks new. Not so new, but at least still new. =D

1. Wipe your car at least 3 times a week. Take a look around when you are driving, even mercedes doesn’t look so luxurios anymore when it is dirty. If you leave the car at its dirty condition for a long time, the dust and dirt will be stuck on the surface and as the day goes by, your car loses its shine. When it comes to that, normal car wash will no longer help.

2. Regular car wash. Wiping is only cleaning away the dust on the surface. However, if you get a good car wash shampoo, you will notice the effect after washing the car. It looks shinier, really, believe me. However, make sure you clean away all the soap with water. Because once it’s dried. It leaves marks.

3. Regular wax/polish. This is important. It protects your car’s colour from the sun. Sunbathing makes you look darker but it makes the car look fainter and fainter. So if you have cars with dark colours and you want them to outstand the others, buy wax/polish and DIY monthly. Make sure you polish evenly though, or else you will see patches. Or if you can afford, let the professionals do it.

4. Clear away all the decors/toys. Ok, when you get your brand new car. The interior is totally toys-free. So if you car now is filled with soft toys/tissue boxes/decors, get rid of them! These soft toys may look really adorable when they are new. But once you have put them in the car, you tend to neglect them and as the years pass, you will see the soft toys start to change colours and they really makes your car looks very messy, ugly and OLD even if your car is not as old as them! They create the effect! So get rid of them! If you must, keep a minimum amount.

5. Polish your dashboard. You think just by keeping the exterior looking good is enough? No. Buy the polish liquid SPECIALLY for car dashboard, and polish them weekly. Whether your car’s interior is leather or polyster, it is not scratch-free(you know what I mean). To hide these scratches, polish it weekly. So that it not only shines, but looks posh as well. It also helps to protect the car’s dashboard from the sun!

6. Vacuum your car. Your seats, dashboard, carpets are not dust-free you know. But this, you can do it monthly. For the carpets though, it’s better to clean them fortnightly. They are the dirtiest place in a car’s interior.

7. Check your headlamps, backlights. The lamps are part of the cars’ design. If you make them look good, your car looks good. Check if they are water-filled due to rain or etc, you will never know even if you’re driving some higly-reputable-expensive-cars. If it is water filled, the brightness will be affected. One side of your lamp may look bright, the other looks dull. This really spoils the image, you know! And make sure they are not broken and each of them works well.

8. Don’t overly modify your car. Adding skirting or spoiler is fine and normal. But don’t add some fanciful lights around the car; an overly big spoiler… They make the car looks…crummy.

9. Pamper your car. Bring the car to the professionals for car wash, polish or wax and a thorough clean up inside out(including engines). What I mean by professionals are those specialized in cleaning cars, those you see in the malls where their prices are very expensive. It’s worth it though, they make sure your car is really clean. If you pay a bit extra they can even dismantle the seats from your car and clean them. As it is expensive, do it once in a six months, more than enough.

10. Drive carefully. Avoid scratches, accidents and your car will look good.
I hope that helps!

P.S : I don’t let the others clean my cars because the clothes they use usually leave scratches. Just imagine how many cars they have wiped with that same cloth.
