15 Died While CLUBBING...

Taken from The Star, 20th April 2008

QUITO (Reuters) - At least 15 people died and 35 were injured when a fire ignited by fireworks swept through a crowded Quito nightclub on Saturday, emergency officials said.

Rescue workers continued to search for bodies after the fire, among the worst in a decade in the hilly capital, where restaurants and clubs often lack proper emergency exits.

"Somebody set off fireworks inside the place which caused the fire," Quito fire chief Jaime Benalcazar told a local radio station. "The exit doors were locked with a padlock."

Firefighters used axes and sledge hammers to break down walls to help people flee the club packed with 300 people, some of them teenagers, watching a rock group, witnesses said.

"People were screaming for help. We tried to tear down the walls, but we couldn't," Giovanni Vargas, a 21-year-old who was near the club when the fire started, told Reuters. "Lots of people died and you feel helpless because you couldn't help all of them."

So for those hardcore clubbers/drinkers, better value your life. Im such a caring friend, advice ppl not to club. Haih haih haih...

Yonex Ti-10

I have been playing badminton very often lately (around 4 times a week). Currently using my beloved Pro Ace Platinum 1800 alternating with Protech Classic Master. Depends on my mood, I'll play either 1 racquet.

Since I have been playing badminton often lately, I was thinking of a new racquet, probably Yonex Ti-10. Other racquets in mind are probably Yonex Arc Saber 10 or the Yonex Armotec 700 Technique or Yonex Muscle Power 100/99. Both are very expensive at around RM500 each or more. I am in love with the new Ti-10. Pictures are as below:-

I cant decide which badminton racquet to buy, u guys have better opinion?

Economic crisis, will it happen again like 1997?

With the current economic instability looming in Malaysia (just after the March 8th General election), the world economic has been very volatile as well. Market fluctuation can be seen world wide as US is heading towards recession (YES, US is heading for recession). This is due to more unemployed workers in US as well as REIT prices hit its lowest so far.

Meanwhile, US imports 20% of Malaysia goods. Meaning to say, US is number 1 importer for Malaysia goods. With the current situation in US, a recession might be possible in Malaysia, in fact world wide I expect. Not yet, but soon.

The KLCI has shown opposite trend comparing with Asia main index especially the Nikkei 225 index, Hang Seng and Straight Times Index. Malaysian KLCI increases but other country decreases. It's the same as US index as well. Why is it that it opposes the world trend? Is our economic index overpriced?

Oil prices have been soaring up lately. I wonder how long can the government subsidies the petrol in our country. Sooner or later, they’ll have to increase the price. But when? Meanwhile, buying oil&gas counters might be a good option, providing the current increase trend of crude oil.
Forex trading can be very interesting as well. With the devaluation of US currency to as low as USD/MYR 3.1865, it hits its lowest since our 1997 economic crisis. Back then, USD/MYR is around 2.5000 only. Buying goods from US would be cheaper, but with the current situation, will it benefit our country or otherwise?

Today's (10/4/08) KLCI rose 20.6 points meanwhile we see mix reaction in the Asia region.
So, USD prices are so low now. Probably I’ll get myself an iPhone 8gb? Good thinking, but how can I find that much money? Someone sponsor me? Hehe..

To drink or not to drink??

Came accross this acticle on thestar.com.my. Forgotten the date of the article tho. I find this quite intriguing actually, dont know to stop drinking or what now.. Read on

"Booze binge kills woman within hours"

FIRST, she downed an entire jug of beer. Then she knocked back a bottle of Cordon Bleu brandy – neat.

And she drank all 750ml of that brandy in half an hour, said the pub owner.

Within hours, Zhu Shaoyun, 31, a visitor from China, was dead from alcohol poisoning, a coroner's court heard.

A verdict of misadventure was recorded.

She was alone when she started her drinking binge at the Dong Guan Entertainment Group Pub in North Bridge Road at 5pm last Nov 12. But after she drank a S$26 (RM60) jug of beer, four friends – three Singaporean men and a China woman – joined her.

She drank a few glasses of hard liquor before starting on the S$310 (RM716) bottle of brandy.
Martin Tenu, 45, the owner of the pub, which closed down this month, said Zhu's friends and his employees repeatedly urged her to stop drinking, but she insisted: “I can still drink. Don't bother about me.”

By 8pm, she was very drunk, said the investigation report into her death.

Tenu said by then she had thrown up in the toilet and was slumped on a sofa.

He added that her friends wanted to stay on at the pub, so they asked if a pub employee could take Zhu home.

Waiter Ng Wei Guang, 25, agreed to do it. She was sick again before boarding a cab and threw up yet again during the journey.

By the time they arrived at Geylang Lorong 8 where she said she was staying, Ng found her foaming at the mouth and nose, looking pale and not breathing.

He told the taxi driver to head for Raffles Hospital, where she died at about 10.50pm. – The Straits Times / Asia News Network

The moral of the story, is dont drink Cordon Bleu but must drink Blue Label. Dont be a cheapo, if not u gonna die early. Just kidding.. "-____-"
