Happy CNY guys!!

Firstly, i wanna wish all chinese community a happy and prosperous Chinese New Year. Signing off from the Dog year, here comes the Pig year. Collect more ang pau, and dont forget to give me too!!

Do you guys know that CNY eve, there was a massive crawl at the North-South Expressway, making their passage back home for thousands of Malaysians. Unfortunately, I'm the unlucky one out of thousands of Malaysians caught in the massive traffic jam. Everyone is heading back home at the same time, CNY eve where chinese have their reunion dinner.

Traffic Jam from Sungai Buluh heading towards Rawang

According to PLUS, the congestion was heavy and slow-moving along Sungai Buloh heading towards Rawang early in the morning and afternoon. Why is it so jam?? I can't understand why jam. It's freaking 3 lane road (4 lanes actually, including the emergency lane that everyone uses), why jam??? GrrRrrRr.. Let me explain why..

One thing for sure, I can't understand the Malays. Why must they go back on CNY eve? Getting bored in the car, i notice that out of 10 cars on the road heading north, 5 cars will be Malay. Why the heck do they wanna go back on CNY eve? I can understand that its a long holiday, but at least be more considerate and give the chinese priority to go back first. How dumb can they be? Getting stuck for 3 hours in the crawl, really spoiled my CNY mood.

Some may argue that they wanna "balik kampung" also. At least have the decency to allow the chinese to go back first. Instead, they suka-suka balik. Not only that, they usually pack their cars till the brim, 6 to 7 ppl in 1 car. This is very accident prone, endangering their own lifes. Have u seen 7 ppl in 1 Kancil?!? WTF?? Maybe u havent, but i HAVE... No wonder they can set world record. Creative but stupid, digging their own grave.

As the jam builds up, many car are stationary on the road for quite long. You know the Malays la, they dont maintain their car. You can see many cars parked at the side of the road, overheated engine. WTF?? Mostly Malays... Wanna drive, must learn how to maintain car. No money, dont drive!! Simple as ABC. Even small kids are smarter than u guys.

Government ohhh government!!! Why ban firecrackers!! Its a chinese tradition to blast firecracker during CNY. This is to scare away monsters (I think. Haha..). Why Why Why?? Besides that, firecrackers provides some side income to the Government. Taxing the firecrackers, chinese will buy even if its super expensive. Isn't that good?? Instead of losing money to the smugglers, they get some revenue. They ought to lift the ban. Why why why?? I know why Gov wanna ban firecracker, its for the sake of safety. Its not the chinese fault for all this nuisance. Its because of the Malays, playing with their 'meriam buluh', causing all the injuries. Mata hilang la, hidung patah, bakar rumah, hilang jari, and blah blah blah. Like i said before, creative but STUPID. Really stupid. Wanna show their superiority by competiting who has the loudest meriam, but they use bamboo as the cannon shell. How can bamboo restrain from the gun powder explosion (they use carbaid which is similar to gun powder). They don't even care about their own safety. For me, it's ok. Let them blast themselves. 1 down, 9 to go. Its common for Malays to have large families. Faham-faham la...

Beautiful scenary. If only i can legally play...

Why ban firecrackers anyway? Besides, only idiots would misuse fireworks and injure themselves. The government should be happy that they don't even have to spend a single cent to entertain its residents this festive season. Let us blast firecrackers ourselves!!

Enough of my ranting. 2007 is Pork Year! We must eat more pork. Bak Kut Tehhhhhh here i come... Huhu =p

Education System in Malaysia

Let me play devil advocate here. Please do not flame this post.

Learning Instituition

A school is an institution where pupils/students learn from teachers. In most systems of formal education, students progress through a series of schools: kindergarten, primary school, secondary school, college, university. Education in Malaysia may be obtained from government-sponsored schools, private schools, or through home schooling.

The government introduced racial quota in Malaysia education system. The government gives more chance for the Malays to get into public universities (IPTA), narrowing the chance of other races to get into it. Years ago, there was a case where more than 100 of non-Malay top students who achieved well in STPM were rejected from certain public universities. If I was not mistaken, the students obtained excellent results which are 5A’s and he/she couldn’t get his/her education choice (which is medicine). Instead, they got offered a course that is not listed in their original 8 courses applied. How can this happen? STPM is known for its credibility, and toughness in examination. Anyone taking STPM really have big balls!!! I’m not joking, I really mean it. . It is considered 1 of the hardest papers in the world. Seeing these excellent student rejected from certain public universities is really disappointing.

Further researches showed that the universities were accepting more Malays than other races, although there are students who have better results and qualifications that were rejected by those IPTA, making it unfair to all other non-Malay students. This is the main reason many of Malaysia’s top students are now working in Singapore (a city with only 3 million populations, but double the economy size of Malaysia).

Attitudes during Schooling Period

First of all, it's always about that "My child is better than yours" attitude among Malaysian parents. In general, of course this is a healthy culture which promotes the spirit of wanting to be the best. This soon forces the parents to pressure their child to be the best among the class. Grades were everything, and what these people study for the next 10-12 years of their early lives is just to score for the exams, make sure they are better than their friends(in terms of 'my marks is higher than yours' of course). This is where everything went wrong, parents, students, teachers all assessing the performance of a student through a simple paper based examination.

Well for one thing, our education system produce way too many robot and photocopy machines thanks to the exam system and spoon feeding nature. Everything was about memorizing; there was hardly any focus on critical thinking or researching. Everything was almost always laid right in front of them for them to absorb without having them to understand it first. Take those away and you'll see students going “ding dong”. I've seen students in college and university level who don't even know how to use the library (minority though)! Shocking! And when these students fails to understand what was thought at a higher level, they attempt to plagiarize instead of trying to understand it.

Giving up an example, "Nur Amalina Che Bakri digelar guru kelasnya sebagai ‘Budak Buku Teks’ kerana keupayaannya mengingati semua pelajaran yang diajar". Quoted from Kejayaan Terbilang. They praise Amalina because she could memorize well instead of can understanding well. Memorize well - is this a quality that we need to achieve Wawasan 2020? Now what we need is innovative, creative and thinking out of box. The reason failure of Malaysia is because we produce a lot machine who can memorize well. It is a total failure as we can’t even practice it in our daily life. What Malaysia need is creativity, something new, not something from textbook.

UPSR, PMR and STPM

The REAL reason why our education system will NEVER improve is majority of Malaysians do not care about education. They would rather spend the money sending astronaut to space, building 400 millions Istana, Petronas Twin Tower and other more glamorous projects. The famous Malay saying

"Gaya mesti mahu"

We must show off.

Then, we have NEP. Everything start going down hill from there. If the majority of Malaysian citizen cared about the education system, they could have done something. They could have asked we have money to build Petronas Twin Tower but why we have NO money to build better school. They could have asked for meritocracy in our education system. They should have done something when our university is NO longer in any world ranking.

We used to have good teacher and we have a good system. Our university had world ranking. This was 20 to 30 years ago.

What we have over here is abused and misused of resources. Spend a lot more money in building a beautiful and large library building but with minimal books in the library. Plus, keep the opening hours short so that nobody can have access to the library. And, so on.

So, to the majority of Malaysians, we do not have a problem with education. Government will provide jobs for majority of Malaysians anyhow regardless of whether they know anything or not. So, why worry??

Don't worry, be happy.

Have you ever meet rural Malays? They are the MAJORITY. They care more about religion than education. Education is NOT important for them. That is why you see beautiful mosque at the rural area but the school is horrible. We are the MINORITY that cares about education. In democracy, MAJORITY rule.

And, that is the saddest part of the story. We have so much resource but we have neither the will nor intention to really educate anyone. It is all wasted away.

They voted and keep current government in power. They had shown to the government that education is NOT important. Now, their children will have suffer form their decision. They got what they deserved.

We have been cheated by our Government!!!

Before anyone says that i'm talking bullshit, read on. I wont blatantly accuse the government without evidence. It is all in black and white, its up to u to believe it or not. I have done comparison in oil prices between Malaysia and USA. The outcome, you'll never believe it. One who uses petrol will still think that the Malaysian government is still subsidising our petrol. In fact, they are not!!! This is why....

This is the calculations for CRUDE oil:
*Figures calculated based on 22 Jan 07 price list

Malaysian fuel pump price: RM 1.92/litre

Nymex Crude: US$58.32/barrel = RM1.357/litre
(1 barrel = 158.9873 litres)

Nymex RBOB Gasoline Future: US$1.5489/gallon = RM1.26/litre
(1 gallon = 4.5461 litres)

So how much more are we paying per litre than we should be? Probably around RM0.50 more per litre. This calculation isn't 100% correct, as its still raw material without the filteration and steps need to be taken before it turns into fuel sold at station. Exp: management, transportation, bayar gaji, and duit kopi. Just kidding btw..

This is the calculations for gasoline(petrol):
*Figures calculated based on 22 Jan 07 price list

As at today, USD to RM exchange at RM3.535 to 1 USD.

The cheapest petrol in USA Toledo at USD1.825 per US gallon.

1 US gallon equals to 3.7854 liter. So... the price is RM1.704 per liter.

US is net oil importer and their price is 22 sen per liter cheaper than Malaysia. This calculation is for Octane-85 (RON-92 equivalent). As for Octane-91 (RON 97 equivalent) is USD$2.07 (RM1.93 only). Price in the USA is the same as Malaysia. Ironically, Malaysia produces oil with Petronas backing them up. On the other hand, USA is a NET importer for oil. It really contradicts the current situation. Think about it.

Malaysia used to subsidies the petrol, but not anymore. We can deduce this from my calculation above. Oil Prices Fall Below $50 Per Barrel. When will the government revise the fuel price after subsidy?

1 barrel of oil does not mean 1 barrel of 100% petrol that u pump into cars. It's actually crude oil and you have to go through some process to extract the content we need from it. See below for clearer view:

Newspaper bullshit time!! This is taken from The Star dated 31 Jan 07:-

"PUTRAJAYA: The Government does not plan to lower petrol prices just yet.

According to Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, the Government needed to monitor the world oil prices for at least one year(WTF?!?!) before making any decision.

“We will review the oil price, but a review does not automatically mean that we will reduce the price. That decision will be for the Cabinet to make,” he told reporters after chairing the National Mineral Council meeting here yesterday. "

Do you maths, and its ALL BULLSHIT!!! Conclusion, we have been cheated by our Government!!!
